Participants receive training, up to $1,500 to cover costs and $1,500 upon completion
The York Small Business Enterprise Centre invites applications from students who want to participate in Summer Company, a program that assists students between the ages of 15 and 29 years old set up their own businesses for the summer.
Participants require a good summer company idea, commitment and hard work.
York Small Business Enterprise Centre facilitates hands-on business training from successful business mentors and an opportunity for participants to discover if they have what it takes to be an entrepreneur.
Summer Company is open to students returning to school in the fall. To qualify, students must submit an application and a detailed business plan for approval.
Participants will complete 12 hours of training and receive up to $1,500 to cover start-up costs and up to $1,500 upon program completion.
This is a great opportunity for students to explore self-employment, develop their entrepreneurial skills and make money at the same time.
The York Small Business Enterprise Centre provides assistance to new businesses and developing enterprises located in the municipalities of Aurora, East Gwillimbury, Georgina, King, Newmarket and Whitchurch-Stouffville. It complements the services provided by Small Business Enterprise Centres operated by the municipalities of Markham, Richmond Hill and Vaughan, in partnership with the Ministry of Economic Development and Innovation.
